Frequently Asked Questions
Straightforward answers about the Principal Advisory process, what to expect, and how we work with dealership ownership and leadership.
-
We give ownership a clear view of what is actually happening inside the dealership and where performance and profit are being left behind. We identify the operational and management gaps, establish clear processes, reporting, and expectations to correct them, and give ownership the tools to effectively follow up with management and hold the team accountable. We then stay involved to help ensure those changes are implemented and sustained.
-
No. Principal Advisory Group does not replace the GM or assume responsibility for the dealership’s daily management.
We provide an additional layer of operational oversight and specialized expertise, working with ownership and store-level leadership to identify gaps, establish clear processes and expectations, measure progress, and strengthen accountability.
The objective is to help the existing management team perform more effectively while giving ownership the visibility and operating discipline commonly found within larger dealer groups.
-
No. The objective is to observe the dealership as it normally operates. We work around your team, observe departments and processes, speak with key personnel when appropriate, and gather the information needed without interfering with daily operations.
-
Principal Advisory is designed for dealer principals and ownership groups who want greater visibility into their operation, stronger management accountability, and a clear understanding of where performance and profitability can improve.
-
We spend time inside the dealership observing each department, reviewing processes and management practices, and speaking with key members of the team. The goal is to understand how the operation actually functions day to day—not simply how it appears on a report.
-
You don’t just receive a report—we stay involved to help ensure the changes are implemented and sustained. Ownership receives a clear, prioritized 90-day roadmap with specific processes, reporting, and measurable expectations designed to close the gaps where performance and profit are being lost. Just as importantly, the roadmap gives ownership a clear framework to follow up with management, measure progress, and maintain accountability.
-
Our involvement continues for 90 days after the findings are presented. During that period, we work with ownership and management to support implementation of the agreed-upon roadmap, review progress against measurable priorities, and reinforce accountability. The objective is to help ensure the recommendations become operating practices—not simply items in a report.
-
Yes. Every engagement is handled with discretion. Operational findings, financial information, management discussions, and concerns shared by ownership remain confidential throughout the process.
-
Every dealership and situation is different. After an initial confidential conversation to understand your operation, concerns, and objectives, we’ll clearly define the scope of the engagement, the investment, and exactly what ownership can expect from Principal Advisory.
-
It starts with a confidential conversation about your dealership, the concerns you have, and where you believe opportunities may be getting missed. From there, we can determine whether Principal Advisory is the right fit and what the appropriate next step looks like.
